What is Awana?
AWANA is a Family Outreach and at AWANA your children not only learn about the Bible and God's plan of salvation, but they also learn about witnessing to others. AWANA is a program the whole family can participate in. Parents become leaders. Children become clubbers. Neighbors kids are invited and in turn start learning Bible verses. Their parents help them memorize the scripture and come to know God's truth. Children are encouraged to attend church. They also earn awards they can proudly display on their uniforms. All this leads to greater church attendance and more people exposed to the gospel.
How to Join
Please contact Carol Hadjiandreou for information on registration. Space is limited and some children may go on a waiting list. Leaders' kids have priority. Please pray about your participation and for our clubbers and leadership. It is our prayer that God will bless our program here at Valencia Hills.
What does AWANA mean?
AWANA is a Bible-based youth program for kids three years old through the 12th grade. The AWANA acronym comes from the bible.
2 Timothy 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.?
The emphasis is on Bible memorization. AWANA is found all over the world and has chapters in many third world countries. This unique program is a proven outreach ministry that gets children involved in learning God's word and developing a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. The three segments per club evening encompass Handbook time, Game time and Council time.
Handbook Time
Club members use this time to recite Scripture that has been carefully selected to emphasize God's plan of salvation and how to live daily as Christians. Clubbers work with one Leader throughout the whole year and the leadership ratio is about 1 Leader for every 6 clubbers. Children benefit from the relationships they build with their Leader. Leaders attend a training seminar to help them work with the children in club. Clubbers earn awards they wear on a uniform that encourages participation in all facets of club. |
Game Time
The key to AWANA's success is often stated as GAME TIME because most clubbers will tell you this is their favorite part of club night. Clubbers participate in exciting team games on the AWANA Circle. Competition is not emphasized in the early grades, but gradually will increase with the higher grade levels. AWANA games are fun! Clubbers learn teamwork, sharing, and discipline.
Council Time
Council time is when the club Director or Leaders share a Gospel message with the clubbers. Many times these messages tell stories about real life situations. Clubbers learn about missionaries and how God sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. Audio and visual aids catch a child's attention and convey a spiritual truth that they can remember for the rest of their lives.
VHCC has a wide variety of programs for your children.
